A well-known problem with classic Von Frey electronic instruments is the need for the operator to bend in an awkward position to stimulate under the paws of rodents. Despite the use of more ergonomic workstation configurations (lower seats and raised desks), the operation can remain tiring or even painful for the operator when repeated on large cohorts of animals. To solve this problem, we have incorporated a camera inside the stimulator handle, allowing video to be recorded and viewed directly from under the paws. Together with our dedicated software, this innovation allowed us to rethink the position of the operator during testing.
