Description
These gavage needles have a larger inner diameter to facilitate the administration of viscous compounds and a straight, rounded tip that wipes clean to help in cases where aspiration of compounds could be dangerous to the animal. The tube is made of soft polyurethane and the hub of clear medical copolyester. Available in two tube sizes: 16ga (5Fr) for mice and 13ga (7Fr) for rats. The inner diameter of the rat tube is 1.0 mm, twice that of the similar FTP-20-38, while the ID of the rat tube is 1.5 mm, 25% larger than the ID of the FTP-15-78. The rat model is available in an 88 mm (3.5″) size for dosing while holding the syringe and in a 380 mm (15″) size for those who prefer the “Harrogate Tube” technique, in which the tube wraps around the palm of the hand. The 380 mm version has depth markings between 5 and 15 cm from the tip. Tubes are packaged in boxes of 250 pieces (50 sterile pouches of 5) or 50 pieces (10 sterile pouches of 5).
