Description

Optogenetics uses light-sensitive proteins to control biological processes. That is, it involves exploiting certain light-sensitive proteins that are appropriately inserted into specific cell populations so that, irradiated by an appropriate and very precise light, they open and the cells become positively or negatively polarized (instantaneous excitation and de-excitation). The unparalleled spatiotemporal accuracy, high tuning, reversibility, and few side effects of light make optogenetics a powerful strategy for studying neuroscience and complex biological systems. For these reasons, optogenetics has already revolutionized disciplines such as neuroscience, developmental biology and cell signaling and is poised to do the same with the study of cell metabolism. Common lines of research include the following: neural circuits and networks, learning and memory, addictions, dyskinesia, sleep disorders, Parkinson’s disease, depression, anxiety, and more.

IOS-465 provides the following wavelengths: 450nm, 465nm, 532nm, 589nm and 630nm (optional).

Data and configurations can be saved in the internal memory or in a USB memory.
